Week Two - Find Your 'Why'

Nerada Tea

Delve into the storied history of this Brisbane brand that's all about creating organic teas the natural way.

For Week 2 of Australian Organic Awareness Week, we’re inviting you to find your why and delve into the benefits of organic at a personal level.

Opting to support organic can be an easy choice, with plenty of affordable and environmentally conscious products on the market for those looking to make a change.

One such example is Nerada Tea and their certified organic herbal infusions range. Proudly local and based out of Brisbane for the past 50 years, Nerada is a pioneer for the Australian tea industry and first launched an organic line in the 1990s.

Over 50 Years of Australian Craftsmanship

The Nerada Tea plantation in far north Queensland dates back to the 1960s, and now exists as a 360-hectare property on the Atherton Tablelands, west of Cairns. This is the largest tea plantation in Australia, and while the harvesting & production of black tea was paused in June 2023, the brand has high hopes for building long-term value offerings for global markets.

One aspects of the business that has grown is their certified organic herbal infusions range, all of which have been created using the finest organic ingredients from trusted growing partners. The organic range includes a wide range of products in bagged and loose leaf varieties, including Lemon & Ginger, Chai, Peppermint, Camomile, White Tea, Green Tea and much more.

All herbal infusions in the extensive Nerada Tea range are certified organic in accordance with the Australian Certified Organic Standard (ACOS)

A Host of Environmental Initiatives

The Nerada business operates with a strong focus on social responsibility. They are proud signatories to the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation and have recently transitioned to 100% compostable tea bag paper on all products (barring bulk food-service lines). Nerada also supports the Rainforest Alliance initiative, which is all about protecting forests, improving the livelihoods of farmers and forest communities, promoting their human rights, and helping them mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis.
