A Choice for the Long Term.

You may have heard the term ‘certified organic’, but do you know what it really means?

In simple terms, certified organic goods are those that have been produced without toxic and persistent chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and GMOs. Livestock on certified organic farms are free to range and raised on food that contains no added hormones, growth promotants or preservatives. Certified organic is always sustainable and regenerative too, with strict rules in place to promote biodiversity and positive environmental outcomes.

The long-term benefits of these rigorous standards are significant, with humans, animals and ecosystems all thriving under organic systems. But how do you know that the products you buy are truly certified organic? It’s simple really.

When shopping organic, keep an eye out for organic certification logos on your purchases. These symbols (such as the Australian Certified Organic ‘Bud’ logo) are a mark of trust that guarantees the producer has been through a strict certification process and annual organic audit.

For those looking to learn more about the big picture of organics in Australia, we have created a downloadable guide that explains more about the certification process for businesses and what you need to know as a consumer. A Week One article is also available that shares more about our Awareness Month ambassador Tegan Martin.
