What Fruit and Veggies are In Season for August 2024?

Things are looking up as we head into the final month of winter, with a great range of produce for you to sink your teeth into and only a few shortages.

Typical winter fruits like Apples, Pears and Bananas are plentiful this month and you’ll still find great quality on your shelves.

While not quite the bumper crop we saw last year there are still plenty of Avocados around, although the fruit is on average a little smaller this year.

Citrus is still looking great for August with plenty of Mandarins, Oranges, Grapefruits and Lemons, although Limes are a bit short and we expect prices to be high for the most part. Strawberries should start to improve and we expect volumes to increase and prices to come down in August.

Elsewhere, you can expect plenty of Papaya, Melons, Pineapples and much more besides.

Tomatoes and Capsicums are really on now! After being in short supply basically all summer you can now expect a great range of all your favorite Tomatoes and all the colors of Capsicums.

Brassicas are all great quality this year. While supply is a little lighter than last year around this time, our Queensland farmers are doing an amazing job and we expect steady supply of everything from Broccoli to Brussel Sprouts.

The farms out in Gatton and the Lockyer Valley are flat out right now digging up Potatoes and Carrots, so there should be no issues with supplies this month.

Salad lines are all looking safe this time of year with the leafy stuff growing in various regions.

Onions may become an issue towards the end of the month when supply dries up from down south. Hopefully the Queensland season kicks in without too much of a gap for consumers.

Have a great August and remember to eat all of your colours!
